Sheriff's sergeant performs life-saving CPR, rescues passenger in cardiac arrest

A life was saved on Tuesday when a sergeant from the Erie County Sheriff's Office administered CPR on the roadside. Sergeant Amborski, en route to the holding center in an official vehicle, was hailed by a motorist on Delaware Avenue in Kenmore. Upon investigation, he found the passenger unresponsive. Recognizing signs of cardiac arrest, he swiftly initiated CPR, instructing the driver to contact emergency services. With the arrival of Kenmore fire and EMS, an AED was deployed, stabilizing the individual. The passenger is currently recuperating in the hospital, as confirmed by the Sheriff's Office.

Young woman's life saved by stranger's CPR heroics in NYC Theater District

A family's annual visit to New York City took a dramatic turn when a young woman, Brittany Williams, suffered cardiac arrest moments after sitting down for dinner in the Theater District. With no pulse for eight minutes, Williams survived thanks to the assistance of strangers. Eight years ago, Williams and Dr. Brandon Johnson found their fates entwined at Three Monkeys in the Theatre District. Williams was there with her family, while Johnson, an ophthalmologist at New York Retina Center, was meeting a friend. Johnson's quick response, performing CPR for eight minutes, and the arrival of EMS with an AED saved Williams. She was later diagnosed with Long QT syndrome and now advocates for CPR awareness and heart health.

Quick-thinking CPR instructor saves life during training session in New York

In the Town of Tonawanda, New York, an unexpected turn of events during a CPR training course unfolded as instructor Karen Mayfield swiftly shifted from teaching to applying life-saving techniques. Assemblyman Bill Conrad, a participant in the class, witnessed the dramatic episode. A man had briefly attended the session, left, and returned about 20 minutes later, seeking help for his unresponsive neighbor. Mayfield, displaying remarkable composure, rushed to the scene and performed CPR, while others ensured that 911 was called. Thanks to her swift actions, the woman's life was saved, underscoring the significance of CPR training.

This US hospital's spotify playlist could save lives

The New York Presbyterian Hospital recently released its own Spotify playlist to help in peforming CPR and chest compressions. The 47 songs in the list are believed to carry a beat of 100 to 120 beats per minute, the required number of chest compressions to be able to sustain the patient until paramedics arrive. The idea is to encourage bystanders to assist people who need CPR in times of emergency.

A heroic judge saves lives

City Court Judge Rory McMahon was the hero of the day. He was working out at the YMCA when suddenly, a man fell to the ground with no life signs. Being trained in CPR, Judge Rory sprung to the action, he saw the 60-year-old man unable to breathe and immediately began providing CPR assistance "I was working out. I was beating I felt like I was doing compressions for 10 minutes, it seemed like time stopped," said the judge. The defibrillator arrived and with the help of a retired police officer, he was able to shock the man back into consciousness. Paramedics arrived later to the scene to provide assistance.

Cop's save an electrified woman in the Bronx

Police Officers Mathew McGrath and Syed Shah where on patrol when they heard the pleas made by the subway station bystanders to help a woman that fell on the subway tracks, “I had a young man coming, running yelling, ‘Officer! Officer! Someone fell on the tracks. They are getting burned!’ ” said officer McGrath, when he arrived on the scene he saw Martina Pamplin laying unconscious without a pulse, with severe burns from the electric shock made by the tracks and with few minutes to spare, the 47th precinct cops started doing compressions thanks to their CPR training, that’s when EMS arrived just in time to see Martina regain her pulse, she is now interned in the Jacobi Hospital’s burn unit.

Victim of car accident saved by 2 citizens

Mark Gonzales along a retired NYPD officer helped a Midland Beach Car accident victim, Gonzales was visiting his parents and heard the accident, going to the scene and finding the man unconscious. He pulled the almost dead man out of his car by breaking the windows and opening the doors, the 2 men began doing CPR maneuvers until the paramedics took over, the courageous efforts of the 2 man gave the man a slight chance for salvation.

Teen saved by AED during little league game

John Cerato did not expect the Little League game to be a tragic affair, but good thing his CPR skills stopped the bad things from turning to worse. While buying ice cream for his kid, he heard a shout in the nearby batting cage. A 15-year-old teen was struck by a line drive on the chest and immediately collapsed in the middle of practice. Cerato was an off- duty cop and his quick thinking skills urged him to grab a defibrillator before approaching the victim. A doctor evaluated the teen and gave the signal to use the AED. Clearing the crowd, he shocked the boy’s chest and detected a pulse. After a few seconds, the boy stood up. He tried to talk, but he was delivered to a hospital for further care. He was able to thank his saviors before going.

Woman thanks strangers who saved husband

A man went to Pittsburgh on day to perform his musical composition. It was a resounding success. But when dinnertime came, the man suddenly fell to the floor, unconscious. Two anonymous individuals came to his aid and administered CPR on him until emergency responders took over. He was revived, but he was subjected to months of intensive care. His wife was with him all the time and she was adamant about his recovery. Eventually, he was able to go back to New York and do activities of daily living on his own again. He and his wife are very thankful to those who helped him, especially the strangers who immediately rushed to his aid.

Traffic situation turned life- saving action for NY cop

During a routine traffic stop, Sgt. Patrick Hildenbrand was shocked to know that the speeding car of Matthew Morgan was because of his unconscious son being rushed to the hospital. The boy suffered a seizure while riding with his dad, which prompted Matthew to speed for his child’s life. Hildenbrand immediately ushered the father and his boy in the police car and drove fast towards the hospital with sirens on. He conducted CPR while driving, knowing there is no time to lose to save the boy. The chest compressions worked on increasing the boy’s chances of survival until the medics provide assistance in the emergency room.
