About Vermont
In the northeastern part of the United States you will find the State of Vermont squeezed in between New Hampshire and New York. It is the second least populated state in the United States, only to be beaten by Wyoming. Half of the state's western border is made up of one main tourist attraction: Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains.
In 1791 Vermont was added as the 14th U.S. state. While the original thirteen colonies were formed as part of the American Revolution in 1776, this state was the first to join after that period. The state's capital is Montpelier, but the largest city is Burlington. This state lays claim to having the smallest largest city among all other states and the smallest capital city as well.
In the Northwest portion of the state visitors flock to Lake Champlain, which separates Vermont from New York. It is the sixth largest fresh water body of water in the United States and stretches 159 miles.
The average snow fall in Vermont ranges from sixty inches to over one hundred inches as you go into the higher elevations. This makes it a prime destination for thrill seekers, skiers, snowboarders, and anyone who enjoys snowy slopes.
There are many ski resorts in the state which cater to snow lovers, delivering every convenience and service imaginable to guests.
For those who want to visit during warmer seasons, more rugged pastimes such as hiking, fishing, and boating, are also very popular in particular regions of the state.
