About Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is another state with a very rich American history that ultimately led up to it becoming one of the original thirteen colonies in 1787. This state was the first American capital and the first congress was formed there as well. After fighting through the Civil War era, it is no wonder this state has such a strong sense of national pride, as witnessed by the many historical attractions scattered throughout the region.

Offering a wide variety of tourist attractions, this is one state that offers a little something for literally every person who might find themselves vacationing in the northeastern United States. Situated just south of New York on the northern Canadian/U.S. border, this is one of the most diverse travel destinations in the country.

Some of the historical attractions include Friendship Hill in Point Marion, the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, and Independence National Historic Park located in the state's capital city, Philadelphia. There are also a variety of historical museums located in various locations around the state. Visitors often make a list of every historical site they want to see in a general region and make their own vacation tours to learn and explore rich American history as it relates to this state.

More leisurely, fun adventures in this state include Hershey Park amusement park complete with intense roller coasters and water parks and zoos located around the state. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and explorations inside real underground caves and caverns.
