Rush ACLS Courses for Nevada professionals

Healthy Living in Nevada

This following health section was developed to provide the residents of Nevada resources on healthy living. We are aware of the importance of being active and eating correctly. You will be able to find a variety of resources on this page that will help you stay active and healthy.

Active Living

The rate of people who suffer from heart attacks in Nevada is about 5%. This is one of the highest rates in the entire country. Leading a physically active lifestyle can go a long way in the prevention of heart attacks and other cardiovascular-related issues. The resources below describe ways that the residents of Nevada can be more active.

Daily Routine

It is often difficult to carve out 20-30 minutes of workout time during the day. There are some ways, however, that you can increase your physical activity by changing some of your daily habits.

  • Ride a bicycle to work instead of drive.
  • Get off of the bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way.
  • Wash your car at home by hand instead of taking it to the car wash.
  • Do some sit-ups during the commercials of a TV show.
  • Take a 5-minute walking break every hour at work.

Nevada Outdoors

Nevada is full of great outdoor activities and boasts many beautiful parks. Mountain biking and rock climbing are particularly popular in Nevada but you can also find less strenuous activities like hiking. Here is a site to help you begin your Nevada outdoor adventure. http://www.nevadawilderness.org/library/index.asp

Healthy Diet

As our Nevada ACLS recertification customers know, healthy eating is just as important as physical exercise in maintaining a strong heart. Here are some ways that you can immediately improve your eating habits

  • Chop fresh vegetables at the beginning of the week for snacks.
  • Drink 1% and skim milk.
  • Have at least 1 egg every day.
  • Limit your portions by using smaller plates.
