About Minnesota
Minnesota is a far north U.S. state bordering Ontario and Manitoba, Canada. Within the country, it also borders North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. On the northeastern state border it meets Lake Superior, which is one of the beautiful Great Lakes. In history, this state was extremely volatile with volcanic explosions, which were responsible for the formation of the beautiful Iron Mountain Range. Today, volcanic activity is near nonexistent.
This state is well known for its beautiful landscape, especially in the fall when all of the leaves begin to change colors. Since there are a lot of trees and natural areas in Minnesota, people come from neighboring states to watch the colorful scene as summer passes into winter.
Other outdoor attractions include biking and hiking through state parks and more rugged terrain in the Chippewa National Forest. Some of the state parks were even designed with backpackers in mind and feature campy sites where backpackers can stop for rest along their journey. A ridgeline that follows Lake Superior also offers a foot track for walking or running that stretches over 100 miles.
Hunting, skiing, and bird watching are other outdoor adventures featured through state parks and national forest reserves.
For travelers who wish to stay indoors or who are more into sightseeing, the famous Mall of America is a premier spot for shopping. It includes an indoor theme park as well as a large variety of other amusements, including a feature called Underwater World. This is a popular day trip destination for local inhabitants as well as a frequent stopping point for families on vacation because it offers a little something for everyone.
