About Maryland

Maryland hangs off the eastern coast of the United States, right next to Delaware. Other bordering states include Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia. The Eastern coast meets the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay runs directly through the state, sectioning it off almost into two different regions.

The easternmost portion of the state running from the Chesapeake Bay to the Atlantic Ocean and the state of Delaware is often referred to as the Eastern Shore and is a popular summer vacation spot for people from all over the country. This small region of the country offers a lot of vacation resorts which give direct access to the beaches as well as other common waterside activities such as biking, bird watching, fishing, swimming, and boating.

Yet, in the summer months even the smaller towns along the coast light up with festivities, boating events, races, and a variety of other amusements. There are also many marinas, cruises, and family oriented theme and water parks operating along this portion of the coast.

The Eastern Shore also features many historical cities and towns which attract those interested in history, or who wish to add some educational fun into a family vacation.

Yet, adventure is definitely not lacking in the western portion of the state, either. The Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI) has become well known all over the world and is visited regularly by people from all over who are interested in extreme sporting adventures.
