Change your Daily Routine

For many, it is simply not feasible to build in large chunks of time for physical activity. You can still, however, increase the amount of daily physical activity.

  • Bicycle to work.
  • Take small breaks at work and do a few sit-ups.
  • Do sit-ups during the commercials of your favorite shows.
  • Take your dog on a walk.
  • Clean your car with your hands instead of taking it to the car wash.
  • Plant and tend a garden.

Eating Healthy

It is very important to maintain a proper diet. We encourage our Indiana ACLS, PALS and BLS certification customers to use the following healthy eating tips.

  • Increase the amount of lean protein into your daily meals. This includes lean chicken and beans.
  • Vary your vegetables and fruit. A good way to do this is to buy fruit and vegetables of different colors.
  • Drink skim or 1% milk instead of 2% or whole milk.
  • Avoid lots of grains. If you are going to eat grains, make sure to eat whole grains.
  • Avoid foods that are high in fat and sugar.

You can also support your local farmers by shopping at a farmer’s market for your food. Farmer’s markets are great places to stock up on healthy foods. Here is a list of the farmer’s markets in Indiana. http://www.farmersmarketonline.com/fm/Indiana.htm
