About Idaho
Located in the northwestern corner of the United States, Idaho is bordered by Washington state, Oregan, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. A small section of the northern border touches British Columbia, Canada as well. It became a state in 1890 and Boise is the capital city.
The natural landscape is the main attraction for visitors and there are exciting things to do no matter what season it may be.
In the winter months, travelers stay mostly at ski resorts so they have immediate access to mountains covered with snow, which Idaho gets its fair share of every year. There are over 16,000 acres that skiers can explore.
In the warmer months or for those who are not so into skiing, the Selkirk Mountains and Boise National Forest located in the state capital are the two main attractions. Visitors can picnic or camp in the huge forest or hike through the mountains with experienced guides. Bonners Ferry is typically used for visitors to get around the Selkirk Mountain regions.
The Bitterroot National Forest is also a top travel destination for nature lovers because it features 1.6 million acres of natural forest wildlife. There are also some amazing features for sightseeing in these natural areas, such as the 48 foot tall Balanced Rock in the Castleford area.
For visitors who seek out more thrill and excitement on vacation, tours over northern portions of the state can be taken by seaplane. The southwestern region of the state is also the place to go for thrilling mountain biking adventures with lift-served mountain biking a new adventure for many bike enthusiasts.
