Staying Healthy in California

Active Living

Leading a physically active life is one of the keys to preventing cardiovascular-related complications such as heart attacks and cardiac arrest. California is no different than the rest of the country in that it struggles with obesity and diabetes. In fact, Californians have the highest rate of diabetes in the West at 8.6%. This is significantly higher than the national average.

Daily exercise is crucial to preventing heart attacks. Here are some great ways to get out and enjoy the beautiful state of California.

The Beach

If there is one thing that California is known for it is the ocean. At the beach you can swim, surf, build sandcastles, take walks, play softball, play volleyball and more. All of these activities would be considered physical activity.
